Wave of shootings ended up with nearly 40 arrests in Spring Hill

Amid a wave of shootings in the Spring Hill area of DeLand, law enforcement is out in force to stop the violence.

The increased law enforcement presence resulted in dozens of traffic stops and close to 40 arrests by the Sheriff's Office over a 6-day period.
However, another shooting of an occupied vehicle was reported last night.

The Sheriff's Office and DeLand Police Department are continuing to work together to put an end to this outbreak of violence. Residents will notice a heavy law enforcement presence, frequent traffic stops and zero tolerance for violations.

While this may present an inconvenience to those who are stopped, Sheriff Mike Chitwood asks for your cooperation as we work to make our community safer for everyone.
