Tips for Getting Into Ketosis

“Keto diets” have become all the rage the last couple years, promising people an easy way to lose weight fast.

While they can certainly do that, when done properly, their real benefit lies in the brain fuel that’s produced when you restrict your net carbs and focus on eating an abundance of healthy fats and a moderate amount of protein.

You see, our bodies can 🔥 burn 🔥 either carbs or fat for energy, but our brains can only run on carbs or ketones - the byproduct produced when the body is in ketosis, burning fat for fuel.

🧠 It’s incredibly healthy for the brain to be “fed” ketones from time to time!

I’m not a proponent of staying in ketosis long term. I believe diet variation is key to metabolic flexibility and health, so eating “keto,” like any other diet variation (i.e. high carb, carnivore, calorie restriction, etc.), should be used as a tool in your tool belt, and intermixed with other eating styles to keep the body on its toes.
