For those making their way in the NFT space the last few months there has been a giant opposing force coming back at you, sucking the oxygen out of the room. You see, it’s unavoidable now - NFTs are toxic. Just in case you were wondering. This space and the morons within it have become the vapid, bleating punchbag for a tidal wave of outrage and disgust. The Line goes up was a gutpunch for a community that arrogantly believed it had all the answers, that it could solve all ills. It acted as a lightning rod for a tribe who believed the exact opposite, giving articulate and focused expression to those who’d been struggling to have their voices heard in all the unfettered lunacy of a crypto bull market. But the film, as much as I want to admire it, and I do want to, I find myself unable. Because, as deeply researched as it was, Dan’s diatribe made no attempt to be balanced. Not was it journalism. It was a deluge of undiluted indignance. Challenging us to shout back and then refusing to engage if we requested a simple conversation.
