Lavrov: Europe, NATO trying to take control of Asia-Pacific region

Russian FM Sergey Lavrov was speaking to the press following the 17th East Asia Summit in Cambodia on Sunday.

His main points:

📍Inclusive open, equal structure of security and cooperation at ASEAN
📍Europe, NATO want to militarize region in order to contain Russia and China’s interests in Indo-Pacific
📍Manifestation of this policy is AUKUS openly aiming at confrontation in South China sea
📍West is accepting ASEAN only nominally while promoting their own instruments
📍As Soviet Union does not exist anymore the purpose of NATO is unclear
📍NATO has moved towards Russian borders several times and now declared at Madrid summit that they have taken global responsibility
📍NATO is moving their line of defence to the South China sea – Beijing has a similar assessment #RT_India_official
