US Secretary of State John Kerry has discussed Taiwan, climate change and President Joe Biden as COP27 continues in its second week, with nations from across the world meeting in Egypt to discuss how best to tackle climate change.

But amid talk of raising the warming target from 1.5C to 2C, John Kerry, the US special presidential envoy for climate and former Secretary of State, told Newsnight the US would walk away from any proposal which included this.

Furthermore, it's less than four months since the speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, a visit not endorsed by her President.

It put a depth charge into US-China relations and led to the biggest ever Chinese live fire military exercises in the Straits of Taiwan.
