This painting is a tribute to the great Miro done in March 2022. You can read more about it, see it in the frame, and BUY the Painting at https://www.etsy.com/shop/CurtisRoyArt or BUY the Prints and other merchandise at https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/curtis-roy/shop The great Joan Miro was originally a Surrealist and became an Abstract painter later. In his early days he was associated with artists like Salvador Dali then later in his career, Jackson Pollack.
I took aspects of at least 5 of is paintings going back as far as 1950 and combined them in this painting to create a new vision that would pay homage to Miro but also carry his ideas forward.
As for what it means, most people will say Miro's work was about Celebrating Love of Life, Joy and Whimsy. I agree with them, but this one is mine and it's a little different. There are entities of different sorts in the sky that might be quarreling.
The spiral shapes represent serpent wisdom in many ancient cultures. In this painting there are two spirals rotating in opposite directions which must cause some agitation or at least represent differing opinions or philosophies. They are in the back ground controlling while the flying entities are on the battle front.
Ultimately, I'll say it is an exploration of shapes, motion and color. I enjoyed painting it very much and I hope to do more like it.
Since I finished it in the Spring of 2022 I have been torn between selling it or keeping it. For the moment, I'm selling it.
The painting measures 36x48 inches and the finished size of the frame is 40x52.
We ask for 1-3 Processing Days to ship because we build a crate that will assure safe delivery.
