Ukrainian soldier and residents celebrate Russian withdrawal from Kherson

UKRANIAN soldiers celebrated with residents of Kherson following Russia's withdrawal from the city.

The unnamed solider, holding a watermelon throughout the selfie-style video, was embraced by residents in Kherson's Svobody Square.

The video then shows the soldier removing a Ukrainian flag from his helmet and pinning it to the chest of a baby held next to him.

“We waited and we knew that you would come when you can," said one woman to a Ukrainian serviceman.
