New wearable medical sensors are being tested in Changi General Hospital. These allow for the remote monitoring of patients' vital signs, even while they are asleep. The smart system also aims to improve productivity, as it cuts the time spent on taking vital signs at patients' bedside. A chest patch and a finger oximeter are attached to a patient. Information is then sent to a central system that nurses can access without leaving their workstations.
