RESIDENTS of a village in Kherson region rejoiced at the Russian retreat, after they endured months of enemy occupation.

Only a handful of residents remained in Blahodatne, some 20 km north of the strategic port city of Kherson, through more than eight months of occupation.

Tears and relief and joy poured from their eyes after Ukrainian forces moved into the region unopposed on Thursday (November 10).

“We waited for it very much. We knew this day would come, that our boys will liberate us. We are grateful to them very much,” Yurii Nevolchuk, a local resident, adding that the months under Russian occupation were “horror”.
