Lula da Silva wins Brazilian election

The leftist former president Lula da Silva narrowly beat incumbent right-winger Jair Bolsonaro in the second-round run-off of the Brazilian presidential election.

Lula - as he's commonly referred - has promised a suite of environmental and social changes - including an end to illegal mining and the scaling back of logging projects in the Amazon.
