Over 11,000 employees laid off by Facebook’s parent company, Meta

Turning over to tech news... Facebook's parent company Meta is laying off over 11-thousand employees.
The announcement, made by CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday, sees a 13-percent reduction of the company's workforce. The announcement also said that fewer employees will be hired in 2023, alongside a hiring freeze for the first quarter.
The move comes one month after the company said profits were half what they were in 2021,... amid a second quarterly revenue decline.
The tech giant has also made risky financial bets developing its metaverse, which it sees as the future of the internet.
Meta's value has plummeted to 250 billion-U.S.-dollars, from its previous high of 1-trillion dollars.
Other tech firms have cut jobs recently as they battle recession fears, rising interest rates and inflation.
