In this tutorial I show you how to make a dishing stump, which is a necessity for dishing plate armor. Luckily, this project is nearly free! All you need is a piece of hardwood, and a few tools to carve out the dish. The wood you choose will need to be seasoned (in other words, dead for a year or more)

Whether you into armoring, or general metalwork like hot rods or classic cars, a dishing stump is a cheap but indispensable tool to have in your shop.

In this video I also review my Central Forge Throatless Shear I just bought. Whether you are new to armoring or a seasoned pro, this shear will help you to get things done 5x faster. Cutting is absolutely the worst part of the armoring process, but this affordable tool makes cutting a breeze. You can find a link to purchase one above. It is the EXACT same one Eastwood Tools sells, minus the blue paint and $40 cheaper.
