Unique Explosion Crater From 1724 - Víti by Krafla Volcano in Iceland
1 year ago
This Icelandic explosion crater came into being in 1724 when a huge eruption in a part of the Krafla volcanic region took off with a bang. The eruption that followed went on for 5 years and for more than 100 years after the eruption ended, a mud porridge boiled in the bottom of the crater. Today it's just this nice green lake lake there but the name of the crater is Víti that mean Hell in English.
