Thailand's northeastern provinces brace for floods as water levels rise

Thailand's northeastern Ubon Ratchathani province braced for more floods on Monday as local residents beefed up sand bags and barriers in their downtown area, anticipating a further rise in the water level from the Mun River, Thai media reported.

Many parts of the northeastern area of Thailand have been submerged with flood water for at least a month. Some areas in Ubon Ratchathani reported water levels had reached a depth of one metre, according to Thai PBS, already submerging houses in the lower basin areas.
