Misty

Martin Callahan was not interested in love. The socially awkward twenty-eight-year-old had been a bit of a geeky nerd in his boyhood days and now that he was a successful engineer at a prestigious San Francisco aeronautics plant, he was just fine without anyone special in his life. That is…until he met Misty.

Misty was a four-legged, wet-nosed golden bundle of pure joy. Playful and loveable, she had just the right stuff to add excitement and affection to Martin’s otherwise boring life.

One summer day at a backyard barbecue, her attempts to make Martin mix and mingle took a heartbreaking twist. Misty was gone. Exhaustive efforts to find his beloved dog were all in vain.

Life went on, although it would never be the same for Martin. He was eaten up with guilt. If he had only paid more attention to her… If he had noticed the gate was open… When times were tough, he longed for her and when good times abounded, he knew they would be so much better…if only he had Misty back.
