There's a very strong chance that Squid Game, the popular Korean series about players fighting to the death for a huge piggy bank full of money, will be Netflix's largest program ever, according to co-CEO Ted Sarandos.

According to critics, the program presents a scathing indictment of modern capitalism.

The author claims in a Jacobin article titled "Squid Game Is An Allegory of Capitalist Hell" that the "primary topic of Squid Game is Korea's tremendous inequality." It "has...tapped a notion common to individuals in the United States...that success in supposedly affluent countries has become increasingly difficult to acquire, as income gaps widen and property prices soar beyond reasonable levels," New York Times correspondent Jin Yu Young observed.
