Thousands of people in Japan have been ordered to urgently seek shelter after North Korea fired a missile over Japanese territory.

Japanese authorities issued warnings to residents in the northern Aomori prefecture to seek shelter inside a building or underground.

It's Pyongyang's fifth launch in a week – and follows joint US, Japanese and South Korean war games in the region.

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary denounced the launches, saying North Korea's actions are a serious challenge to international peace.
