UKRAINE'S President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday (November 7) that Donetsk region in the east remained the "epicentre" of fighting in the conflict, with hundreds of Russians being killed every day.

"The Donetsk region remains the epicenter of the greatest madness of the occupiers," Zelensky said in his nightly video address. "They are being killed in their hundreds every day. The ground in front of Ukrainian positions is littered with bodies of the occupiers."

Citing the use of missiles, aviation, and multiple launch rocket systems, Zelensky said more than 50 settlements across Ukraine had been hit on Monday, including Zaporizhzhia and the Kherson region in the country's east.

Zelensky added that the Ukrainian forces are still in a state of "active defence," but are gradually pushing Russian troops back.
