1. Due to constant shelling by Ukraine’s armed forces, civilians have been leaving Kherson. Most do so on their own, while people with limited mobility are helped by volunteers.

An organized evacuation from the right-bank part of the Kherson region lasted three weeks and ended today. For security reasons, the authorities decided to temporarily stop traffic across the Dnieper, but those who wish can cross to the left bank of the Dnieper by boat. Barges continue to ferry motor vehicles across.

2. According to the Ukrainian side, the Russian military is preparing for street fighting in the city.
Ukraine, also, accused Russia of looting empty homes in the southern city of Kherson and occupying them with troops in civilian clothes to prepare for street fighting in what both sides predict will be one of the war’s most important battles.

3. Ukraine's army accused Russia on Sunday of the large-scale destruction of civilian vessels moored on the banks of the Dnipro River in the southern region of Kherson that Kyiv's forces are trying to capture.
Ukrainian forces have been piling pressure on Russian troops on the western bank of the Dnipro that bisects Ukraine, fuelling speculation that Moscow's troops are preparing to retreat to the other side.

The Ukrainian General Staff's spokesperson said in a statement that the fuel from the destroyed vessels had leaked into the river's delta and also accused Moscow's forces of appropriating the vessels' engines and other equipment.

4. Ukraine conflict approaching its 'Stalingrad' – Serbian president
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has compared the anticipated battle for Kherson between Russian and Ukrainian forces to the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II, warning that aftershocks from the fighting would be felt far outside the conflict zone.

“Challenging times are ahead of us. Next winter will be even harsher than this one because we’re facing the Battle of Stalingrad, the decisive battle in the conflict in Ukraine, the battle for Kherson,” Vucic said in an interview with Pink TV on Sunday.

Both sides are likely to deploy thousands of tanks, aircraft and artillery pieces in the struggle for the key city, he predicted.

“The West [which is backing Ukraine in the conflict and supplying it with arms] thinks it’ll be able to ruin Russia that way, while Russia believes it’ll be able to defend what it obtained at the start of the war and bring it to an end,” the Serbian leader said.
