FIRST SHOTS FIRED

Roy Keanes 7th Appearance for the Republic of Ireland was at an end of Season tournament at the US Cup in May of 1992. It was also the last time Roy Keane shared a pitch with Mick Mc Carthy. The tournament was a shambles for Ireland, which would see most of the Irish team go on a booze up after being eleminated with losses to the USA and Italy. The players were told to meet outside the Team hotel to get the bus to the Airport on their final day in the USA. Jack Charlton had gone to the Airport earlier, he had left Mick Mc Carthy in charge. And it was here that the first frank exchange of words and views happened between Mick Mc Carthy and Roy Keane.
