Megawati threatens to expel PDI-P members who ‘maneuver’ to get presidential ticket

PDI-P chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri has warned party members that she will not tolerate any political maneuvering within the party in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.

Megawati said during her speech at the PDI-P national meeting on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 that she would immediately expel cadres who were not toeing the party line. Nevertheless, she did not mention any names.

Speculation was rife that the warning was directed at popular Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo who continues to top surveys as most desired presidential candidate in 2024.
