Two-week worldwide search uncovered British expat dead in Portugal | Portugal News | NewsRme
After a two-week worldwide search, the body of a British man was discovered in the country of Portugal.
The corpse of the 63-year-old man was found by neighbors, who immediately notified the country's Maritime Police.
The unidentified foreigner was last seen in the Guerreiros do Rio region of the town of Alcoutim, about a half-hour drive north of the Algarve coast, aboard a sailboat docked on the Guadiana River between Spain and Portugal.
At the time of the search effort, which was undertaken by Spanish and Portuguese authorities the day following his disappearance on December 6, reports suggested that he may have fallen from his boat.
The alarm was raised by citizens who saw the British warship floating with no one on board and called the authorities.
