Peyote is a small, spineless cactus which contains the psychoactive alkaloid, mescaline. Peyote is a Spanish word derived from the Nahuatl peyōtl, meaning "caterpillar cocoon". Peyote is native to Mexico and southwestern Texas. It is found primarily in the Sierra Madre Occidental, the Chihuahuan Desert and in the states of Nayarit, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, and San Luis Potosí among scrub.

Known for its psychoactive properties when ingested, peyote has at least 5,500 years of entheogenic and medicinal use by indigenous North Americans. I took a trip to San Luis Potosi to seek out this magical and mysterious cactus to try it for myself.

Unlike any other psychedelic I have ever experienced, it felt like a physical battle which would persist for over 14 hours. The day was a memory I'll treasure forever as it was the first time I'd ever ridden a horse and I was lucky enough to do that in the most cowboy like scenery on the planet, alongside my fascinating and curious friend Sarelli.

⚠️ I do not promote the use of illegal substances. This video is for education and entertainment purposes only. By documenting my experiences with these substances in an honest and open manner I intend to educate and show the possibilities both negative and positive for people who decide to engage with psychoactive drugs or for anyone interested in this topic ⚠️
