Online Masterclass on the Selkup language. Frankfurt Book Fair 2021

Grigory Korotkikh, director of the Ilsat Interethnic Association based in Tomsk, will introduce the Selkup language, one of the rarest languages in Western Siberia. The audience will get acquainted with traditional and modern Selkup-speaking culture, learn how the role of this language of a small ethnic group in society is being transformed. The speaker will talk about the place of the Selkup in education and the role of education in preserving the Selkup language. The most interesting language practices that can be implemented in virtually any language situation are to be explored.
