Father Dave v Tommy West

October 4, 2015 - my battle with Tommy West for the Australian Masters Title, light heavyweight division.

Tommy, who once fought as 'Johnny Rocco', is a veteran of 51 professional engagements. It was a tough fight but I thought I clearly got the better of him.

The results was a split decision against me. You judge for yourself. For me the fight was well summed up by the moment I knocked Tommy into the ropes in the final round and yet instead of putting a count on my opponent the referee stepped in to make sure he could get back on his feet before continuing.

Tommy is a very gracious man and said straight after the bout that he'd thought I'd won and offered me a rematch. Unfortunately we were not able to schedule that rematch. Even so, I have nothing but respect and admiration for Tommy and do not begrudge him the title at all. At the same time, I have had an ongoing issues with some of these official in Adelaide for some years now and will not be dealing with them again.
