I caught a miracle fish yesterday, on the Black Sea coast, in Yevpatoria.
Local fishermen could not recognize who it was… The assumptions were different, from the Azov bull, to the scorpion. But I know these fish, because I caught them repeatedly, and it wasn't them… For this reason, upon coming home, the whole family began to explore the expanses of the Internet. It's good that Yandex can search by photo.
As it turned out, this fish is one of the five most dangerous fish of the Black Sea. And it has a beautiful name European astrologer. In England, it is called a cow fish.
The European astrologer belongs to the order Perch-like. It got its name because of the eyes located at the top and close to each other, which constantly seem to be looking at the sky
The average body length of adults is 25-30 cm, only some specimens reach 40 cm. The maximum weight is 900 grams.
The large head is covered with a shell. The eyes are set high on the head and directed upwards.
The jaws of the European stargazer are armed with small needle teeth. At the end of the lower jaw there is a leathery worm-like appendage to attract victims.
There is a poisonous thorn above the pectoral fin. The dorsal fin is divided into 2 parts. The first short is supported by 4 hard beams, and the second soft by 13-14 soft beams.
The color is camouflage and depends on the environment.
Light or dark brown tones with marbled black spots predominate. The first dorsal fin is black, the rest are bluish.
