National Garrick Day at the Sandspit when everybody gets one. This still happens every year but the adverse weather conditions have been keeping the garrick fishermen well in check.

Even the illegal jiggers of Port St Johns were hampered by weather and floods this year so the fish got quite a break for a change.

That all said, many reports of double-figure garrick taken in a couple hours by a single criminal have been filtering in to us here in The Sardine Newsroom. These fish are no doubt sold to the highest bidder.

DAFF and SAPS have ben trying al sorts but still, the carnage and slaughter go on at every break in the weather. Or attention from the cops.
