While recognizing that every race and every people group – without exception – has a sufficient measure of guilt and reconciliation to pursue, Pastor John uses God’s condemnation of the people of Judah in Jeremiah’s day as an example to us today to additionally own and accept personal responsibility for the sins of our own forbearers to help heal the damaged souls of both the abused and the abusers.

Bottom Line: As part of our trajectory towards the cross we’d be wise to see things clearly: The gospel is not here to make us feel good about ourselves – it’s here to save us. It is time to humble ourselves; as every one of us, will one day quite surly… give an account to a righteously holy and fiercely just God.
