MITTENS? That is what I wear on my hands when I get cold during the winter! 😆 What does it mean to look for a mitten shape to differentiate a new phalaenopsis spike compared to a new phalaenopsis root? Sometimes, mitten like shapes, don't even appear on a phalaenopsis spike and it looks like a phalaenopsis root at nubbin stage. If you are a phalaenopsis grower and love the anticipation of seeing if your phalaenopsis is growing as spike, then I have sooo many visual appealing examples of what to look for without having to guess,.. is it a mitten or is it a root?
