In a brilliant BBC comedy Yes Minister from 1980s sir Humprey Appleby explains why it is important to send a PM elsewhere, somewhere, anywhere; so he and his colleagues can run the country while the PM attends some summit. In the real life, when a newly (s)elected PM Rishi Sunak decides not to attend COP27 UN climate summit but to stay home and deal with domestic issues, he is attacked for not doing his job.
