Headbutting, rearing, and clashing heads are all normal behaviour within a herd. This is also play behaviour and helps to establish and maintain a hierarchy within the herd. It is a very effective means of protection against predators. If you try to push the goat head or horns off of the animal, it may become aggressive and start butting you. Introducing unfamiliar goats should be done carefully and gradually.
