Valve is working on peer-to-peer game downloads between two devices on a local network.

This means that you don’t have to mess around with redownloading a game if another device on your wi-fi already has that game.

Valve is most likely doing this as a quality-of-life update for steam-deck users who have to redownload their whole library..
