I Should Have Never Let it Get Like THIS! // Deep Clean Barn Transformation

The beef steers left us an awful mess in the barn stall and I’ve put it off for long enough. The difference is amazing and we saved some money in the garden, too. Our family loves spending time together doing chores here on the homestead.

Up until it was time to go to freezer camp nothing went right with our beef steers this year. At the end of that adventure we put some delicious beef in the freezer but we were also left with an incredible mess. I refused to address this during the heat of the summer but with fall here and winter fast approaching I can’t put it off any longer – it’s time to get this barn clean.

Over the course of several days our family worked to scoop the floor and clean the walls so that our dairy goat herd and our livestock guardian dog, Virgil, will have a nice, warm, dry place to shelter this winter. During this process we realized that we accidentally deep litter composted this stall; nearly everything we scooped was ready to be added to our garden. It was not our intention to do this (and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend doing it yourself) but in the end we did save quite a bit of money on dirt as we work to get our whole garden ready for next spring.

Coming up real soon we’ll be expanding the feed room/milking parlor for our dairy goats as kidding season kicks off in just a few short weeks! We also hope to fill our freezer with fresh venison as deer season comes around here in Kentucky. We hope you’ll join us on our future adventures! Thanks for watching – see y’all soon!
