Earlier this year, the James Webb Space Telescope captured an image of a distant star surrounded by crisp, circular ripples. Scientists quickly dubbed the image "bonkers" and speculated that it might represent an extraterrestrial superstructure spanning many light-years. Even astronomers were confused by the absurd concentric geometric circles. Is This Latest JWST Discovery a Real Extraterrestrial Megastructure Akin to a "'Cosmic Fingerprint"? Will this be the final proof that we are not alone in the universe? Join us as we investigate the JWST capture that surprised everyone!
Citizen scientist Judy Schmidt posted the photo on Twitter in July, prompting a flood of reactions and puzzlement. It depicts WR140, a star surrounded by progressively fading regular ripple-like rings. On the other hand, the circles are not exactly round, but have a square appearance, raising suspicions of extraterrestrial origin.
"I think it's just nature doing something that is simple, but when we look at it from only one viewpoint it seems impossible, at first, to understand that it is a natural phenomenon," Schmidt said in an interview. "Why is it formed this way? Why is it so consistent?"
Two Australian astronomers explain in two papers published recently in Nature and Nature Astronomy that the 17 concentric rings seen encircling the star are actually a series of mammoth dust shells formed by the cyclic interaction of a pair of hot stars, one of which is a dying Wolf-Rayet, locked together in a tight orbit. james webb telescope, james webb telescope terrifying discoveryjames webb proxima bjames webb telescope proxima b,james webb space telescope, james webb, james webb discoveryjames webb aliens, james webb trappist, james webb new image, webb telescopejames webb update, james webb new images, proxima centauri, proxima b,proxima b aliens, proxima b radio signal, exoplanets, aliens, solar system, space, space videos, you curious, youcurious
