One of the very largest construction projects during the second world war was the enormous Bunker Valentin, a mass production hall for the Type 17 U-boat. placed right on the river outlet in Bremen Germany it was an enormous usage of labor and resources. Some of Germany's top engineers including General Kammler was involved.
But was it worth it, and was the Type 17 really a wunder weapon with the potential of changing the course of the war.
in this episode I visit the site with one of the local historians and go through the impressive structure and go over the details and the stories of those who built it.
In this series I will explore the sites of the German special projects, weapons and the sites of their employment, to evaluate their potential and history.
