12 June 1775. First Sea Battle of the Revolutionary War

Won by Capt. Jeremiah O'Brien of the sloop "Unity" against the British vessel "Margaretta under British Capt. James Moore in Machias Bay.

During WW II, a torpedo-boat was named after "O'Brien" and used during the war.
