As part of a larger Latin War, the Romans famously defeated the Latin League at the Battle of Lake Regillus shortly after the founding of the Roman Republic.

The seventh and final King of Rome, Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, who had been banished in 509 BC, and his son-in-law, Octavius Mamilius, the ruler of Tusculum, led the Latins.

The Tarquins' final attempt to retake their throne was the battle.

Castor and Pollux are said to have sided with the Romans during battle.
