Delta Airlines throws a pizza party 🇺🇸

Delta Airlines threw a pizza party at the airport of Boston, United States, for passengers stranded after their plane returned to airport because of a possible gas leak and passengers didn’t accept 6,000 dollar in gift cards offered to take another flight to Rome, Italy as well.

The passengers earlier were confronted with a delay of some 12 hours before the plane was eventually able to depart, only to return a short while later, leaving passengers stranded at Boston, instead of their European holiday destination.

Delta Airlines eventually refunded the passengers for their canceled flight and also offered to pay for any non-refundable accommodation that the passengers could not use. Most of the passengers departed for Rome on even later flights.

This leaves me guessing why the passengers didn’t pick up that 6,000 dollar gift card offer. I expect it to be relatively easy to spend this as cash or future flights, which means that a delay of one or even two days would have been very well compensated?
