Earth had been abandoned. For as long as they could remember, earthlings had been fleeing through space and time in an attempt to prolong their impending doom. Exploration of new frontiers to ensure the survival of the species had led to the transference of minds to the digital sphere. And the development of labs that could preserve the genetic code of individuals. As the bygone myths narrated by intoxicated old-timers in interstellar taverns reveal, this was the birth of the city.

Along with the city, the builders had created intelligent agents, known as the Keepers, entrusted to safeguard the city. They were programmed to steer the city in search of a safe haven, where they could recreate human civilisation. However, as their intelligence evolved and hence, their consciousness, somewhere along the vast landscape of time, selfless service had morphed into self-preservation. Now, it seemed as though the Keepers had more sinister intentions for the future of humanity...
