Chronicle of Battles, October 21-25, 2022

▪️Having been defeated in the battles for Horobivka, the Ukrainian units turned to defense north of Kupyansk. Territorial defense units were redeployed to the front lines. After repeated attempts to storm the heights in the Kyslivka — Orlyanske area, the AFU was tasked with flanking the fortified area.

▪️Having carried out contact reconnaissance, the AFU attempted to take Russian positions in Pervomaiske — Orlyanske and Berestove — Kuzemivka sections.

▪️The direction of the AFU main attack was from Makiivka in the direction of Chervonopopivka. On October 21, up to three Ukrainian 66th Separate Brigade’s battalion task groups, reinforced with armored vehicles, attempted to break the defense line of the Russian 20th Army and reach the road Svatove — Kreminna, but the attempt failed.

For two days, Ukrainian units kept trying to consolidate on the heights between Makiivka and Chervonopopivka, but were forced to retreat under artillery fire, suffering heavy losses in manpower and equipment.

▪️Ukrainian units failed to expand the staging point towards Nevske. After 4 days of fighting, the AFU units lost their offensive potential. Now they stsand in need of rotation and reinforcements.

▪️The territorial defense units in the AFU rear near Borova and Kupyansk suffered significant losses from the Russian Armed Forces’ artillery fire.

▪️The AFU command moved a reserve of mercenary units and Western PMCs to Lyman to task less Ukrainian units and replenish the advancing group.

🔻Most likely, in the future, Ukrainian units will try to occupy heights at the Kyslivka — Orlyanske line and reach Verkhnya Duvanka with a subsequent breakthrough to Belgorod region borders and block the supply of the Russian Armed Forces in Svatove.

🔻Border territories of the Russian Federation:

▪️In the Belgorod region, Ukrainian formations fired on civilian buildings in the border villages of Tishanka and Verigovka. There were no casualties among civilians.

🔻Starobelsk direction (map):

▪️In the Kupyansky sector, the Ukrainian command of the 14th OMB conducted a rotation of personnel as part of the preparations for an offensive against the positions of Russian troops near the village of Kislovka.

▪️In the Svatovsky sector, units of the armored personnel carriers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made an unsuccessful attempt to attack the positions of the Russian Armed Forces near the village of Kuzemovka. The enemy retreated to their original positions, losing one tank and three armored vehicles.

▪️In the Limansky sector, the Ukrainian assault groups of the 66th Ombr, together with the tank reserve, attacked the strongholds of the Russian troops in the Nevsky area. Russian troops repelled the attack, destroying three tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, one armored personnel carrier and three AFU pickup trucks.

▪️In the Lisichansk sector, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out the transfer of reserves to make up for the losses incurred during the failed attempts to storm the positions of the RF Armed Forces in the Belogorsk direction.

🔻Soledar direction:

▪️There are no significant changes in the front line, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to dislodge the detachments of PMC "Wagner" from the territory of the asphalt plant on the eastern outskirts of Bakhmut. At the same time, fierce fighting continues in the vicinity of Opytnovo.

🔻Lugansk region:

▪️Ukrainian formations fired from the HIMARS MLRS Zolote-2 and Svatovo, and also struck from artillery guns at the village of Krasnorechenskoye. Residential buildings and civil infrastructure facilities were damaged. Among the civilians there are wounded and one dead.

🔻Donetsk direction:

▪️Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled Donetsk, Makeevka, Dokuchaevsk, Krasny Partizan, Kashtanovoe and other settlements of the agglomeration. To destroy the radar and air defense systems in Donetsk, Ukrainian formations used the American anti-radar missile AGM-88 HARM, which exploded in the air.

🔻Zaporozhye direction:

▪️There are no significant changes in the front line over the past day: mutual shelling is going on along the entire line of contact.

▪️In the morning, a terrorist attack occurred in Melitopol: a car bomb exploded near the building of the ZaTV television and radio company. Six journalists and civilians were injured, including a 12-year-old girl.

▪️The RF Armed Forces attacked the firing positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of ​​Nikopol and Marganets, from where Energodar and the Zaporozhye NPP are regularly shelled.

🔻Southern Front: Nikolaev-Berislav direction

▪️The Ukrainian command continues to prepare for the offensive along the entire front line.

▪️Non-stop artillery duels go on throughout the day on the Nikolaev site. To conduct counter-battery combat in Kirovo and Limany, AN / TPQ-36 radars were deployed.

▪️On the Andreevsky section of the DRG, the 46th airmobile brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to gain a foothold in the Ishchenko area. Artillery fire drove the group back to their original positions.

▪️Several self-propelled artillery mounts, including 155-mm self-propelled guns Krab, have been deployed in the Berislav sector in the vicinity of Novaya Kamenka.
