1955 Chevrolet Belair Convertible with a Supercharged V8 engine.
Let's wisely invest a little time with this InSane 1955 Chevrolet Belair Convertible. 1955 through 1957 was the second generation of the Chevy Belair and the first year it was available with a V8. This was a noticeable increase in horsepower.
The 3400-pound Bel Air received new styling for 1955 and was called the "Hot One" in GM's advertising campaign. Bel Airs came with chrome spears on front fenders, stainless steel window moldings, full-wheel covers, and a Ferrari-inspired front grille. The base V8 had a two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 162 hp. The "Power Pack" option featured a four-barrel carburetor and other upgrades yielding 180 bhp. Later in the year, a "Super Power Pack" option added high compression and 195 bhp. Warning lights replaced gauges for the generator and oil pressure.
The 1955 Bel Air was very well received and Motor Trend magazine gave it top marks for handling. Popular Mechanics reported a comfortable ride and good visibility. A new option for V8-equipped 1955 models was air conditioning, with outlets on each side of the dashboard and a heavy-duty generator was included. The Chevrolet Bel Air has long been considered an icon of the 1950s. Well-maintained and preserved examples are highly sought after by car collectors and enthusiasts.
This particular Belair was produced right here in Georgia. Atlanta Ga to be precise. It has been moded with an Art Morisson frame, Hotchkis suspension, Power 4-wheel disk brakes, power steering, power windows, Air Conditioning, and Tilt wheel. Under the hood, there is a Supercharger, Fuel injection, and much more to make this amazing car InSanely powerful and reliable at the same time.
You can see this and other well-maintained InSanely cool classic cars at Savoy Auto Museum in Cartersville Georgia USA.
