Dr. Stephen on the Functional Food Program
Jodi: So the functional food program has been an expensive program because it takes a lot of my time to teach people about food is medicine.
Dr. Stephen: Yes, it's very detailed. There, it's not just information that tells you to eat this and not this. It's about how to clean up your environment. It's about the effects foods have on your body. What else is there? You were going through it with me, and there was so much detail.
Jodi: Yeah, it was about removing the toxicity. So, it's not only the chemical items in your home but your personal care items that you're putting on your body,
Dr. Stephen: Right, the cleaning products. It's about cleaning up your environment, filtering your water, and cleaning your air. It's more than just food and what you're eating. It is part of weight loss and what we look like to be accepted.
Jodi: Yes, because technically, right now, I'm overweight, and I’m fine with it because being healthy is not always about your weight. Of course, I'm not saying go out there and get heavy, but I was eating healthy, so I was still functioning really well. However, I saw a picture of myself-- I was on top of this waterfall on this mountain and someone took a picture of me. I posted the picture by accident because I didn't realize I was on top of the waterfall; I thought it was just the waterfall. And it was a gift because I saw I had a belly, the sound size of Mount Olympus, and I'm like, “Wow! Where did that come from?” The thing is, we don’t see ourselves, so we don’t realize it most of the time. It also happened that in that time, I bought a new pair of pants and then five days later, the pants couldn’t fit. Now I'm like, “What's going on?” I had parasites and so my gut was huge.
Dr. Stephen: Yeah, it was swollen?
Jodi: Yeah, it was huge, and I could pass for a woman in her seventh or eighth month of pregnancy with these parasites, considering the way that I looked. I laugh at myself when this comes up because it's funny. However, I used my red-light therapy and killed it and now my stomach’s great.
Dr. Stephen: Red-light therapy gets rid of parasites?
Jodi: Yeah, red-light therapy.
Dr. Stephen: Does it really? I didn't know that.
Jodi: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so, I killed, I would say, 98% of it, and then I used clove and oregano. Now my stomach is not extended, I still have an opportunity to lose weight, but I'm certainly not looking like I'm ready to give birth. *Don’t spit that out.
Dr. Stephen: That's my breakfast.
Jodi: Here's mine. It's my dandelion coffee with 10 different mushrooms this morning.
Dr. Stephen: Are you doing an intermittent fast?
Jodi: Yeah, now that I think about it, I kind of am. Yeah. I wasn't intentionally doing it, but I'm drinking a lot more now--water, less food and just giving my body rest.
Dr. Stephen: Yeah. I actually probably need to do more of that instead of staying in mTOR. mTOR is the cellular rebuilding process where autophagy is clearing a metabolic byproduct and getting rid of the senescent cells. So, through that intermittent fasting, there are a lot of benefits because you're going to increase your saturnes, rapamycin is going to pick up all these other anti-ageing compounds. So, I probably need to get more focused on having shorter periods of feeding. You know, where I’m eating the same amount of calories, but in a shorter period of time. I like to space it out because I eat so much food in the day. When you are working out, to supply the muscle mass, you have to eat a lot of food. So hard to eat that big meals. It's easier to split up. Typical bodybuilders eat 6, 7, 8 times a day and they split the meals up. However, in that your body's always digest.
Jodi: Yeah, right.
Dr. Stephen: and it's good to give your body a break.
Jodi: Yeah, it is.
