Words Convert

Can you share with the other business owners who are watching today,
how important copywriting is to their business?

Absolutely. So I think when we think copywriting, we think, of that person who writes a few ads for us. Copywriting affects every bit of your business. The way you use words matters. You need to use words consistently so that people understand who you are. You need to use vernacular that is familiar to whatever your industry is. If you're using elevated language that doesn't work for your audience or you're using language that dumbs it down just a little too much, you're going to lose people.

You also need to be consistent with who you are. If what I write is this glorious verbose poetic piece, and then I get on screen and I'm like, hey, y'all. I'm so excited to be here. There's a disconnect. Every time we use our words, whether we speak them or we write them, we're helping to bring our audience in, and we're helping to convert them from a cold audience to a warm audience to a sale. So words are what convert. Words are what convict and they're what convert. And so using consistent words, using certain styles, and using certain phrasing is important. It's important to each individual business owner, but then it's also important to each type of copy we're writing. The way we write a website needs to look a little different than the way we write our social media ads. Then we still have to maintain the same voice so that we're keeping our audience engaged. There are a lot of different ways that you need to take your copy and make sure that it's consistent and true to you. I'm a big proponent of SEO. Dotty, I know SEO is that's like a love language for web designers. I'm going to challenge the status quo here and say this. You cannot have good SEO, quality SEO, that gets you the right audience if you don't have your branding language, and your branding copy nailed down. The SEO comes in once you have your message locked in.

The SEO is like that whipped cream on top that really just convicts people.
That brings the audience in so they can hear your message. But if your message isn't locked in, they're coming to a page that's not right. They're not going to respond to it.
