Saluda ( A Railroad Parody Of September by Earth Wind And Fire )

On October 25th 1992 N&W 611 pulled a special excursion up the steepest mainline railroad in North America. It wasn't the first or last time it went up that mountain but that time it stalled. Later the excursions were stopped and Saluda was closed in 2001 and now it waits to perhaps return as a crucial link from Charleston to Spartanburg to Ashville to Knoxville. Or if some shortsighted people get their way and tear it up to make a walking trail for people who are to slack to make their own separate trail.
