On October 24, 2022, New York Supreme Court Judge Ralph Porzio ruled in favor of 16 New York City sanitation workers who sued the city after they were fired for defying the city's vaccine mandate.

Judge Porzio's decision in George Garvey et al v. City of New York et al struck down the vaccine mandate not only for the plaintiffs but for all NYC municipal workers.

As the plaintiffs' attorney Chad LaVeglia said outside the Staten Island courthouse where the ruling was handed down, “We just defeated the vaccine mandate for every single city employee.”

Watch exclusive interviews of LaVeglia and DSNY workers who were plaintiffs in the case as they left the courthouse.
