Gibraltar Airport is so unique because of its strategic location and the placement of the tarmac. Gibraltar airport is considered to be one of the most dangerous in the world because of high winds, short runway length, surrounded by the sea on both ends, and an highway with cars and people run through the middle of the runway.

This is a compilation video of landings from July 2022. Gibraltar Airport only gets about 3-6 flights per day. These are just a handful @Ministry of Flight was able to capture during July 2022.

I love how these planes land on a tarmac that is surrounded on all sides by water. This is a must watch to see how close to the water these planes land and take off. There are very few airports in the world like this, that could support commercial airline jets to land and take off under such extreme conditions.

Gibraltar is one of the most dangerous airports in the world because the runway is short, it is surrounded by water on both ends of the tarmac, an international highway bisects the tarmac with cars, bikes and people on foot crossing. The weather caused by the Strait of Gibraltar can lead to brutal crosswinds. The pilots who land here have to be very qualified. Flights to Gibraltar are currently only from the United Kingdom because Gibraltar International Airport is technically a military airport not a civilian one.
