Looking to improve your mental emotional and physical health in a holistic way. Meditate.. What it is and Why we do it. Today were going to talk about what it is to meditate. What does it look like to meditate types of meditation and group meditation? What is it to meditate? If you ever felt this chaos this huge amount of information coming in to your brain. What do you do with that chatter? How can you find this place of peace and calm? Meditating can do it by taking you from a place of Chaos to a place of peace. I love meditating. Let's define meditate. It's a time to listen to God speak to you. I love that mediation gives me the time to listen for the answers to my questions. It is a time to ask questions, any question that you might have. Make sure you write down the answers as they come. This is really important if you want to know an answer to a question that you write the answer down. Meditation Calms the mind. Allows the chattering to stop. It will engage you in contemplation or reflection. It is a time to look back, Notice why am I holding on to my stories why am I holding on to the things of the past. The things that I cannot change. Guilt and shame create a past story of a time when I made a mistake. Sometimes you need to be grateful for it this is a great opportunity to tell your body thank you. Thank you for all the great things you've done for me today. It's also a time to listen is your body and where it is hurting. What a great time to connect in with your body and spirit. What does it look like to meditate? Parasympathetic system, is res and digest. We may all think it's really important to eat and run because I don't really have time to sit and eat. Guess what your digestive system doesn't work if you don't rest. Getting into parasympathetic is really important for our physical bodies and our mental health. Posture, if you sit straight and align your spine with your head and you open your shoulders this does such good things for your body. You can also lay down or sit or stand there are all kinds of ways. Your eyes can be opened or closed. I personally like mine closed. Open eyes tend to leave me to see and change my mindset. It's better for me to be more present, to close my eyes. It’s a time when I can have questions in my mind and find answers to them. Music can be playing or it could be a guided meditation with voice. There are so many ways to meditate. Anything you can do that brings your mind to a calm and peaceful place. I love this definition. Washing dishes does that for me. I can go to a really beautiful place. Breathing that's rhythmic. If you're doing it intentionally breathing in and out. There's all kinds of breathing, box breathing is one of those where you breathe out for 4 second hold for 2 seconds breathe out 4. Yoga stretching in a smooth and rhythmic. Sitting still and listening. What kind of things can we listen to? All of this leads to group meditation. I really love this definition from Linda McTaggart, from her book The Power of Eight. “When individuals in a group focus their intention on a single-target, powerful collective dynamic emerges that can heal long-lasting conditions, fractured relationship, lower violence and even rekindle life purpose.” I love this because by myself I can do a lot, but in a group magnification of the power of our focus becomes greater. Have you ever just felt like your life is not following the path you want? All it needs is some rekindling with meditating in a group. That is why I have for you I have an amazing group we meet at 5:45 a.m. every morning .I know it's so early but it's so much fun and so worth getting up to start your day off. With a group of people who want the best for you and for themselves. I love this opportunity and we have a quick conversation for 10 to 15 min after.
