The tailrace canal is part of a water system containing dams used for power that flows fromLake Moultre, SC to the Cooper River.
This particular site in Moncks Corner, SC has been declared unsafe for swimmers due to unpredictable water currents and many deaths by drowning have occurred here.
It is still a popular fishing site.
