In a new and worrying trend, videos of Punjabi men, women and children crossing illegally into the United States with the help of Mexican traffickers have been surfacing online. The new phenomenon of taking kids through risky routes show the families’ desperation to reach abroad. Several young Punjabi men have lost their lives and even more, have landed in US jails. The phenomenon shows the complete lack of faith and hopelessness of Punjabi families in the governments back in India. Earlier in 2019, a video of six-year-old Gurupreet Kaur from Haryana had made the rounds, she had died in the Arizona desert due to heatstroke.
