Peter Gleeson says an "embarrassing" foreign affairs blunder by the Albanese government "soured" relations between Australia and Israel.
Mr Gleeson said it concerns Labor's decision to overturn this country's recognition of West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel – a position that the Morrison government had instituted in 2018.
He said the way Labor went about announcing the decision made it "highly controversial".
"Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong – instead of accepting responsibility for the stuff-up – she implied fault lay with anyone but her," Mr Gleeson said.
"Others weren't convinced."
